Feeling the need to nurture your creative spark? If so, you may want to look into the "Painting is fun" class scheduled on Saturday at the local YMCA in Towanda.

The class is being held by artist/art instructor Rick Packer of Mainesburg, who has been teaching people how to paint for the past two years. In addition, Rick also has 20 years experience bringing things to life on canvas.

The class, according to Rick, will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every third Saturday of the month at the YMCA. The cost will be $40 per person for each session, and include all materials. Participants are recommended to wear old clothes, and bring a light snack and a drink, he said.

"I supply the paint, the canvasses and brushes - everything you need to create a painting, even if you're a beginner. It's fun painting," Rick explained.

This session, Rick said, they will be working on an ocean scene, a honeymoon beach. Everyone will be working on the same scene for their own painting, Rick explained, and he will be offering instruction and advice throughout the course.

"I paint with them (the participants)," he explained. "I walk you right through it. Even if you can only draw stick figures, you can still paint. It's just a little bit of design and a good positive attitude."

To register for the class, Rick said, interested parties should call the YMCA at (570) 268-9622.

"Each session, they keep the painting that they created that day," Rick explained. "Their masterpiece."
